Terms and Conditions of Service

 

These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by Severnside Gas (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By booking a service or allowing works to proceed, you agree to these terms.

1. Authority to Instruct Works

By requesting our services, you confirm that you are:

  • The property owner, or

  • The lawful occupier, or

  • Authorised by the owner or occupier to instruct the works.

If you book on behalf of another person (for example as a landlord or agent), you remain responsible for payment, whether or not you are present at the property.

2. Booking Fee & Minimum Charge

  • All attended appointments are subject to a minimum one-hour labour charge.

  • A booking fee (or card pre-authorisation) equivalent to one hour’s labour may be taken at the time of booking.

  • This fee is deducted from your final invoice if work proceeds.

If access is not provided or work does not proceed, the booking fee will still apply.

3. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • You may cancel or reschedule free of charge with at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Cancellations within 24 hours, same-day bookings, or failure to provide access may result in the booking fee being charged.

4. Charges & Hourly Rates

  • Services are charged on an hourly basis, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

  • Time is charged from arrival on site.

  • After the first hour, labour is charged in 30-minute increments.

Parts, materials, equipment hire, and specialist items are charged separately.

Where applicable, reasonable parking or congestion charges incurred at your request may be added to the invoice.

5. Estimates & Variations

Any estimate provided is a guide only and based on the information you supply.

If additional issues are discovered on site:

  • We will explain the issue and any additional costs.

  • No further chargeable work will proceed without your agreement.

6. Access & Missed Appointments

If we attend and are unable to gain access for any reason (including forgotten appointments), the minimum one-hour charge will apply.

A new booking fee will be required to rebook.

7. Parts & Materials

  • Labour charges do not include parts or materials.

  • Specialist or non-standard parts may require a 50% deposit before ordering.

  • Once ordered, specialist parts are non-refundable unless the supplier accepts a return.

Ownership of parts transfers to you once paid in full.

8. Payment Terms

Payment is due immediately on completion of works, unless agreed otherwise in writing.

We accept:

  • Debit card

  • Bank transfer

We do not accept cash.

Delays in payment that cause the engineer to remain on site may be chargeable at the applicable hourly rate.

9. Stopping Works

If you ask us to stop work part-way through a service, you will be charged for:

  • Labour carried out

  • Parts supplied

  • Materials used
    up to that point.

10. 12-Month Labour Warranty

We provide a 12-month labour warranty on new installations carried out by Severnside Gas.

This warranty:

  • Covers faults caused by our workmanship

  • Does not cover parts not supplied by us

  • Does not apply where third-party work, misuse, or lack of maintenance has occurred

This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights.

11. Emergency & Breakdown Services

Emergency or breakdown services are charged on an hourly basis and may be subject to a higher rate.
Any premium rate will be explained before work begins.

12. Investigations & Diagnostic Work

Some investigations may require lifting flooring, removing panels, or accessing concealed pipework.

While we take reasonable care:

  • Some cosmetic disturbance may be unavoidable

  • Reinstatement is not included unless agreed in writing

All work will be carried out with reasonable care and skill.

13. Blockages & Frozen Systems

Blockage and frozen pipe services are provided on a best-endeavours basis.

Due to their unpredictable nature:

  • Results cannot be guaranteed

  • No warranty applies to outcomes

Your statutory rights remain unaffected.

14. VAT

All charges are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate.
Any VAT changes will be applied in accordance with the law.

15. Late Payment (Commercial Customers Only)

For commercial or business customers, late payments may accrue interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate, in line with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts legislation.

This does not apply to domestic customers.

16. Delays Outside Our Control

We are not responsible for delays caused by events outside our control (such as traffic, weather, or supplier delays).

If delays are significant, you may cancel and receive a refund for services not yet provided.

17. Complaints & Rectification

If you believe work has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill:

  • Please contact us promptly.

  • You must allow us reasonable access to inspect and, where appropriate, rectify the issue.

If no fault is found, a call-out charge may apply.

18. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation

  • Any matter which cannot be excluded by law

Statutory consumer rights are not affected.

19. Data Protection

We use personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

20. Governing Law

These terms are governed by English law, and disputes may be brought in the courts of England and Wales.
